Pinoy-built train system soon to serve UP Diliman community

I beg to differ! You guys really need to read the story behind this.
First of all, it is not a train. It is an Automatic Guideway Transit System. It runs on a monorail.
Second it is not supposed to run around the campus nor supplant the jeepneys around the campus. It is a prototype of a mass transport system built from Filipino minds, with Filipino scientific and technological know how, for the Filipino people.
Third and final point, which I think is very important. The transit system, once improved through the studies to be made with the prototype, will eventually be used as a mass transit system for urban centers in the country which have been plagued by heavy traffic for years.
The cost of this All-Filipino transit system would be 1/5 of that which would have to be imported from Japan or any country abroad. Imagine MRT or LRT fees slashed-down by 80%.
We all complain of rising costs in fuel, transport fares, and mass transit fees, and yet when Filipino scientists and engineers try to harness science and technology to work for the people, we quickly jump into conclusions that it is commercialization. If that’s how we think whenever there are initiatives like this, we will end up always depending on foreign transit systems. Which is worse then, making our own transport systems? Or buying them from abroad at more expensive prices? Which then would best SERVE THE PEOPLE?
